Peter Lucas, long-time Massachusetts political analyst, writes in his Lowell Sun column that "Grossman believes he can use the vast resources of the treasurer's office -- from the investment of billions in state pension funds to an expanded role of the treasurer's Economically Targeted Investment operation -- to bring jobs to Massachusetts." With Steve's background as a small businessman, Lucas observes, "He knows what it's like to create jobs and meet a payroll without a federal bailout."

Steve’s push to help small businesses find the capital they need to grow and create jobs was at the top of his agenda Tuesday, Feb. 2 when he spoke at a meeting of the Smaller Business Association of New England (SBANE) in Waltham. Later he appeared on WGBH-FM’s “Emily Rooney” radio show to discuss President Obama’s proposals to encourage more bank loans to small businesses.

As Steve travels across the Commonwealth he hears more and more stories about small businesses who are eager to grow and create new jobs, but are blocked by an inability to get the loans they need to finance their expansion.

Steve barnstormed Berkshire County Saturday, Jan. 30, meeting with citizens and political activists across Western Massachusetts. His call for an activist Treasurer who will use the office’s financial resources to help create jobs has found a receptive audience.
