Steve Stumps in Worcester

Steve made a campaign swing through Worcester, March 2, stopping by WTAG’s “Jordan Levy Show” and also meeting with local nurses.

On the radio show, Steve discussed his plan to help small businesses and promote financial education if he is elected Treasurer. Later it was Steve doing the listening as regional leaders of the Massachusetts Nurses Association warned of the impact high patient loads are having on hospital nurses while school nurses discussed the effect of budget cuts.

Howard Dean and Jim McGovern Back Steve

Before a crowd of more than 150 enthusiastic supporters Feb. 8 at Boston’s Park Plaza Hotel, Steve received the endorsements of former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean and U.S. Rep. James McGovern of Worcester. Steve also received the backing of Democracy for America, the grassroots activism organization that Gov. Dean founded.

In their remarks, Rep. McGovern said Steve’s experience and skills make him a Treasurer who will help restore the Massachusetts economy while Gov. Dean praised Steve’s integrity and said the public can have full confidence that he will protect their interests. Steve was chairman of Gov. Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign and is a long-time friend and associate of Rep. McGovern.

The Most Important Value is Loyalty

For Steve respect for people and concern for their future has always been a core value. The impact of this was seen recently when Steve and colleagues at his company recently gathered to wish a retiree "happy birthday." Steve calculated that the cumulative tenure of the well-wshers at the company adds up to more than 160 years -- proof that loyalty and respect are a formula for success.

A Super Saturday for Steve

Steve, his family, staff, and volunteer supporters fanned out across the Commonwealth Saturday, Feb. 13, on the biggest day of Democratic caucus activity so far in the election season. The Grossman team attended or was represented at more than 110 caucuses. The response to the campaign’s message of jobs and economic growth, financial education, and standing up to corporate excesses was fantastic. An overwhelming majority of the delegates elected Saturday pledged to back Steve at the June Democratic State Convention. And we circulated scores of nomination papers to get Steve on the ballot.

Caucus for Steve

This month the Massachusetts Democratic Party holds a caucus in every city ward and every town to choose delegates to the Democratic State Convention. These 400 caucuses are important to our campaign because Steve must get 15% of the convention vote to be on the September primary ballot. We need you to help by attending your caucus and supporting Steve.

To find out where your caucus is, please click here.

Many of you have attended caucuses before and are planning to go again this year. But if you’re not, please consider going. All you need to participate is:

  • Be a registered voter in the town or ward where the caucus is held;
  • Be enrolled as a Democrat (independents cannot participate even if you voted in a Democratic primary);
  • Show up!

There are many ways to help: You can help simply by attending and urging fellow attendees to support Steve. You can run as a delegate yourself or vote for delegates who will back Steve at the convention. You can report back the results of your caucus to our campaign team. Please click here for more information on the nuts and bolts of the process, and to sign up to help Steve!

If you have any questions or need more information, please do not hesitate to contact Matt O’Malley, our field director, or any member of the campaign team: (617) 625-2010 or matt@stevegrossman.com.

Grossman sees a cause in state treasurer's seat

Peter Lucas, long-time Massachusetts political analyst, writes in his Lowell Sun column that "Grossman believes he can use the vast resources of the treasurer's office -- from the investment of billions in state pension funds to an expanded role of the treasurer's Economically Targeted Investment operation -- to bring jobs to Massachusetts." With Steve's background as a small businessman, Lucas observes, "He knows what it's like to create jobs and meet a payroll without a federal bailout."
