Two Springfield Schools Damaged by Tornado get Green Light for Repairs
6 June 2012
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Wednesday, State Treasurer Steve Grossman announced that the Mass. School Building Authority voted to move forward on projects to help repair two Springfield schools projects impacted by last year’s tornado.
The two votes approved are associated with projects to help with the Mary A. Dryden Veterans Memorial School and the Elias Brookings School.
Last year’s tornado tore a great portion of the roof off of the Dryden School and destroyed the hallways of the Brookings School.
“In the year since the tornados struck, the people of this community have shown extraordinary resilience and character,” said Grossman adding, “The MSBA is proud to stand with the City of Springfield and its citizens as we commit to rebuilding these two schools.”
